The cut off valve on the meter belongs to Saraland Water, a customer is allowed to use this valve. If the valve is broken the customer will be billed for replacement. Plumbing code states all properties should have a cut off valve located on the customer’s side of meter.

Saraland Water will cut water off at the meter during regular business hours. All requests after hours will be billed a service charge. For service charge fees, please call our office at 251-675-5126 during business hours.

Only the account holder can request turn off. This can be done in the office or by phone with proper identification for residential accounts. Business accounts require signed paperwork by account holder on letterhead to close an account.

Once account is closed a final bill will be processed and the deposit and/or balance due will be mailed to the address provided by account holder. This process can take approximately 6 -8 weeks to complete.

ACH payments are electronic bank-to-bank transfers processed through the Automated Clearing House network. They allow funds to be securely transferred directly from a checking or savings account without using a credit card or paper check. ACH payments are commonly used for invoices, payroll, and recurring or scheduled payments.

Rates & Fees

Saraland Water and Sewer is proud to serve nearly 5,000 customers in our service area to provide clean, safe, and reliable water and sewer services with a commitment to community and customer care.

We work hard to keep rates as affordable as possible, and our rates remain among the lowest in the region. Unlike investor-owned utilities, Saraland Water and Sewer does not profit from rates — revenues are reinvested into the water and sewer system.

A higher bill can happen for several reasons, including seasonal lawn watering, household leaks, or changes in daily use. Even a small drip from a faucet or a running toilet can waste hundreds of gallons each month. If your usage looks unusually high, our team can review your account and help identify possible causes.

Before collection begins the account holder may request an extension (pay the bill later in the same month). The account must pay the amount due of the water bill plus $25.00 extension fee on the date agreed upon by both the account holder and the office supervisor or office manager.  Extensions are reserved for hardships, emergencies and extenuating circumstances.
