Water Conservation Tips

Simple Steps. Lasting Impact.

Water is one of Saraland’s most precious resources, and using it wisely ensures that we can continue to enjoy safe, reliable service for generations to come. Every household, business, and neighborhood plays a part in protecting our shared supply. Conservation doesn’t have to be complicated. Small changes can add up to big results.

The Saraland Water & Sewer System is dedicated to delivering dependable service while promoting responsible water use across our community. Our teams maintain efficient systems, repair leaks quickly, and monitor infrastructure daily to reduce waste. But lasting water savings start at home. When residents take simple steps to conserve, we strengthen the entire system and keep costs manageable for everyone.

Why Conservation
Matters

Every drop of water that leaves a faucet or sprinkler represents energy, treatment, and delivery costs.

Conserving water helps lower utility expenses, reduces strain on our treatment plants, and preserves valuable groundwater resources.

As Saraland continues to grow, mindful water use supports sustainable development and a cleaner environment for future generations.

Together, we can keep Saraland’s water flowing clean, clear, and strong.

At Home

Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, shaving, or washing dishes. This small change can save several gallons every day.

Fix dripping faucets and running toilets promptly—those steady drips can waste more than 2,000 gallons a year.

Run your dishwasher and washing machine only with full loads to use water more efficiently.

Outdoors

Water lawns early in the morning or late in the evening to minimize evaporation.

Check sprinklers and irrigation systems regularly for leaks or misdirected spray.

Choose native or drought-tolerant plants that thrive naturally in Alabama’s climate.

In the Community

If you notice broken sprinklers, leaks, or open hydrants, contact Saraland Water & Sewer immediately so our crews can respond.

Encourage friends, neighbors, and coworkers to practice smart water habits.

Support community initiatives and educational programs that promote environmental stewardship.

The Saraland Water & Sewer Board approved a one-time adjustment for late fees that were charged when mailed payments were delayed in the postal system and arrived after the due date in February.
